Colegio has g before i, and so does colegial. Remember how this word family is spelt.

Gente has g before e. The sound alone does not tell g from j: remember the whole word.

Jugar has j. With g before u you would get another sound, as in gusano.

Jirafa is written with j. Before i, g and j can sound the same, so remember this word’s spelling.
