Rule and examples

Yes or no: the same order

In a yes-or-no question, the word order is the same as in a statement; only the intonation and the question mark change: Você mora aqui? There is no opening “¿” in Portuguese.

Question words

Qual, quanto and prepositions

With a preposition, it comes before the word: De onde você é? Com quem você brinca? Que horas são? (here “que” stays because a noun follows).
