Potere, volere, dovere, sapere
Posso, voglio, devo, so + infinitive: posso mangiare, voglio giocare. They are irregular: possiamo, vogliamo, dobbiamo, sappiamo.

The four conjugations
Potere: posso · puoi · può · possiamo · potete · possono. Volere: voglio · vuoi · vuole · vogliamo · volete · vogliono. Dovere: devo · devi · deve · dobbiamo · dovete · devono. Sapere: so · sai · sa · sappiamo · sapete · sanno.
Example posso · voglio · devo · so · possiamo · vogliono
Verb + infinitive
After potere, volere, dovere and sapere the second verb stays in the infinitive, with no “di” or “a”: posso mangiare, voglio giocare, devi studiare, so nuotare. Only the first verb changes.
Example Posso mangiare. · Voglio giocare. · Devi studiare. · So nuotare.
Sapere and potere
Sapere + infinitive means being able because you have learned: so nuotare, sai leggere. Potere means you have permission or the chance: posso uscire, non posso venire oggi.
